The dazzling rhinestones attracted Ham Lake resident Deb Thompson to a pair of used capris on sale at a Goodwill store earlier this week. But the real bling turned out to be deep inside a pocket.

After her daughter spotted the sparkling capris during a Monday shopping trip to the Coon Rapids Goodwill store, Thompson paid $3.99 to take the pants home. When Thompson, 53, later tried them on and put her hand in the right pocket, she was surprised to pull out a diamond ring.

"We all just sat there going 'Wow,'" Thompson said.

Instead of cashing in on her discovery, Thompson wants to find the ring's owner.

"If it was me, I would be going crazy if I had lost a ring like this," she said Wednesday night.

Thompson said she's been told the ring could be worth between $5,000 and $6,500.

Goodwill spokeswoman Lisa Ritter said that it could be difficult to find the owner of the ring because the charity doesn't track specific articles of clothing that people donate.

Still Thompson said she remained hopeful.

"I would love for [the owner] to have a second chance," she said.

Inquiries about the ring can be made on www.facebook.com/GoodwillMinnesota or www.goodwilleasterseals.org under "Contact us."
