Longtime KSTP-TV news anchor Bill Lunn has been reassigned to reporting, he confirmed Sunday.

Lunn has anchored or co-anchored the station's newscasts at 5, 6 and 10 p.m. for 8½ years. He said that, as of last week, "I am not anchoring anymore," and that he was still at the station as a reporter who will focus on his ongoing interest in veterans and military issues.

Asked if the move was disappointing, Lunn said no. "The Hubbards have been great to me," he said, referring to KSTP's owners, Hubbard Broadcasting.

"I always wanted to be a reporter," Lunn said.

The 10 p.m. newscast on Saturday was anchored solo by Leah McLean, who co-anchored with Lunn for most of his time in the anchor position. "It appears that's how they want to go," Lunn said.

Lunn began his career as a reporter and then an anchor for a Duluth station before moving to Memphis, where he worked as the evening news anchor at WPTY-TV.

Lunn attended St. Mary's University in Winona and received a B.A. in English literature. He received his master's in journalism from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.
