Police have arrested two people suspected of forcing a woman into an SUV at gunpoint and later shooting her Sunday afternoon in north Minneapolis.

According to police, officers found the victim, whose name and age weren't released, in the 2100 block of Emerson Avenue N. some time after 5 p.m. on Sunday. She had been shot in the shoulder, officials said.

The two suspects reportedly approached the woman, forced her into a waiting Dodge Durango and shot her before she managed to escape, according to police dispatch audio and officials.

Police were called to the 2600 block of Colfax Avenue for the reported kidnapping, only to find the victim about half a mile away, on Emerson. She was transported to HCMC, where she was treated for injuries that were not considered life threatening.

The absence of a ShotSpotter activation in the area suggests that the woman was shot inside the vehicle, but detectives are still investigating the events leading up to the shooting.

Publicly, police haven't yet ruled out gang activity or a domestic dispute as a motive, but they are also looking into the possibility that the incident was connected to the Nov. 27 slaying of 37-year-old Patrick Thomas, who was found stabbed to death at a home on NE. Grand Street.

A man and a woman were booked into jail Monday.
