Authorities on Friday identified the girl who was hit by her school bus on the last day of classes in Otsego as 6-year-old Keira Devens.

The Otsego Elementary School kindergartner was in fair condition Friday at Children's Hospital in Minneapolis.

Keira was hit by the bus about 3:15 p.m. Thursday after she stepped off close to her home near Padgett Avenue and 82nd Circle NE., according to the Wright County Sheriff's Office.

"Her parents were waiting in the car just across the street because it was raining out," said Sheriff's Capt. Dan Anselment.

The Vision Transportation bus was making one of its early stops on the route, meaning there were "lots of students on the bus," Anselment added.

Emergency personnel treated the girl at the scene before she was transported by air ambulance to a Twin Cities hospital, the Sheriff's Office continued. She was conscious at the time, authorities said.

The bus driver was replaced at the scene, which is standard procedure, allowing the route to be finished, the captain said.
