An Eden Prairie man pleaded guilty to criminal vehicular homicide for killing his 23-year-old nephew in a drunken-driving crash in August.

Randoll Sloan, 48, was driving his convertible with the nephew, Kyle Boline, a Marine corporal who served in Afghanistan. Sloan was speeding when he missed a curve on Eden Prairie Road near Kurtz Lane in Eden Prairie and struck a utility pole.

The car flipped, and both men were ejected. Boline died at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. Sloan suffered a broken leg and significant head wounds.

Tests found his blood alcohol content less than four hours after the crash to be 0.19 percent, more than twice the legal limit for driving in Minnesota.

He pleaded guilty Tuesday to three counts of criminal vehicular homicide. He will be sentenced July 31.
