Police continue to investigate a series of separate incidents that claimed two lives in north Minneapolis over the weekend and left several others wounded.

Cabrie D. Young, 28, died shortly after midnight Saturday after being shot at a home in the 3400 block of Dupont Avenue N. He died at the scene and two other men were wounded.

Young lived in the 3700 block of Girard Avenue N., about six blocks from the shooting.

The two other men were taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale with noncritical injuries; one of those men was arrested Saturday night and is being held in the Hennepin County jail on probable-cause homicide, said police spokesman Scott Seroka.

Seroka said the case is in the hands of the Hennepin County attorney's office and he couldn't say anything more about the possible motive for the shooting. Charges are expected to be filed Monday or Tuesday, he said.

Francesca M. DeSandre, 24, was shot to death about 5 a.m. Saturday at her home in the 2600 block of N. 3rd Street. Another woman was seriously injured.

No one has been arrested in that case. Her death was the 16th homicide of the year in the city.

Three other people were injured in other violent incidents during the weekend, according to Minneapolis police.
