A man reported being assaulted, at times sexually, "over a period of several hours" by an unknown intruder in his St. Cloud home before fleeing and calling police, authorities said.

Officers entered the home about 5:30 a.m. Sunday and arrested the suspect, a 21-year-old man from Grand Rapids, Minn. He is being held in the Stearns County jail on suspicion of first-degree burglary, third-degree assault, false imprisonment, making terroristic threats and fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Police have yet to say what the suspect is accused of doing to warrant the allegation of sexual assault. Fifth degree often addresses allegations of touching over clothing or an attempt to remove a victim's clothing.

According to police:

Officers arrived to the 1000 block of 36th Avenue N., a few blocks east of St. Cloud Apollo High School, and met with a man at his neighbor's house. The man said he had been "assaulted over a period of several hours in his residence after an unknown male had entered through an unlocked door," the statement from police read.

Police found the man in the home and arrested him. The victim was treated at St. Cloud Hospital for injuries and released.
