It's time, now, to plan for our big summer reading issue, and we're looking, once again, for recommendations from you. What titles do you suggest for a great summer read? Something light you can doze over in the hammock? Something thick and Dickensian you can devote hours to up at the cabin?

• "Major Taylor," by Minnesota authors Conrad Kerber and Terry Kerber, with a foreword by three-time Tour de France winner Greg LeMond, will be published in May by Skyhorse Publishing. It is the biography of legendary black bicyclist Marshall "Major" Taylor.

• "Breath of Spring," an Amish romance by Twin Cities writer Charlotte Hubbard, will be published this month by Kensington. Hubbard will sign books on May 10 at Barnes & Noble, HarMar Mall, Roseville.

• The fifth and final volume of Jacqueline West's bestselling middle-grade "Books of Elsewhere" series will be published in July. "Still Life" concludes the story of Olive, who lives in a haunted house with her parents and several cats.

• "A Creature of Moonlight," by Rebecca Hahn, has been published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Books for Young Readers. The book features a protagonist who is half-dragon, half-human. Hahn lives in Minneapolis. She will launch the book at 6:30 p.m. on May 9 at the Red Balloon in St. Paul.

• "And the Hills Opened Up," by David Oppegaard, has been published by Burnt Bridge. Oppegaard, who lives in St. Paul, is the author of "The Suicide Collectors."

• Minneapolis writer Pete Hautman, National Book Award winner for "Godless," has a new young-adult book out. "The Klaatu Terminus" is book three in the Klaatu Diskos series.

• Mahmoud El-Kati's collection of essays, "The Myth of Race, the Reality of Racism," has been published by Papyrus Publishing. He will read at 7 p.m. May 8 at SubText Bookstore in St. Paul.

• John Sandford's 24th Prey novel, "Field of Prey," has been published by Putnam. He'll be in town this week for signings: 7 p.m. May 7, Once Upon a Crime, south Minneapolis; noon, May 8, Barnes & Noble, downtown Minneapolis; 7 p.m. May 8, Barnes & Noble, Roseville.
