Authorities on Friday released the identity of the person who was fatally struck by a train in St. Cloud a day earlier.
Carol J. Oltz, 52, of St. Cloud, died Thursday morning after the 100-car freight train hit her on the east side of the city, police said.
The incident brought a halt to the eastbound BNSF train, which was hauling crude oil, blocking motor vehicle traffic on St. Germain Street and on 7th Street SE. for a few hours in the morning.
An Amtrak Empire Builder train also had to sit tight for about 1 hour and 40 minutes while investigators collected evidence at the scene.
