Three Rivers Park District will receive $95,300 to install interpretive exhibits in one of the state's most important historic farm homes. The grant from the Minnesota Historical Society will be used at the Wendelin Grimm Farmstead in Carver Park Reserve near Victoria.

The brick home was built in 1876. The exhibits will tell the story of the Grimm family's emigration from Germany in 1857, and Grimm's development of North America's first winter-hearty alfalfa.

The grant came from the Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Fund, part of the state's Legacy programs.

Each of the three large rooms on the main floor of the farmhouse will receive modern interactive exhibits, and the kitchen will retain its 1870s period furnishings.

The house was restored to its original appearance in 2001, and officials said the exhibits will help bring it to life for visitors. Pending park district board approval of the award, the project will begin this winter and be completed by May 2015.
