Twin Cities music fans would have to be living under a rock to not know this is the week Sonny Knight & the Lakers' debut album drops via Secret Stash Records. Knight is gracing the new cover of City Pages and has been featured on the Current's "Local Show," Fox 9, our own Sunday spotlight pick and a new Summit Brewery online series called "Tunes on Tap" over the past week, all leading up to Saturday night's release party at First Avenue.

Another fine bit of exposure for the R&B/funk revivalists has been newly unveiled by Twin Cities Public Television's "MN Original" series, which you can watch below. The mini-doc is officially a profile of the Secret Stash label, but it focuses on the seasoned Knight and his crew of younger bandmates (which includes drummer Eric Foss, Secret Stash's co-founder). TPT's crew filmed them during the recording of the new album, "I'm Still Here," with the LP's saucy lead-off track "Jucy Lucy" prominently featured.

We also ran our cover profile of Knight when they were making the record back in January. It was pretty clear even then it was going to be one of the year's hottest local releases.
