A Minneapolis woman missing for a month has been found dead in a city park about a quarter-mile from her home, police said Thursday.

The body of Elle Sachs, 46, was discovered by people on a walk Tuesday in Theodore Wirth Park near the border with Golden Valley, said police spokesman John Elder.

Authorities have yet to say what led to Sachs' death.

Sachs was last seen Feb. 17 in the 1500 block of Xerxes Avenue N., where she lived.

Her body was found southwest of her home along railroad tracks near Wirth Parkway and Plymouth Avenue, Elder said.

Her home was just off the northeast side of the park, which had been the subject of organized searches. Another had been scheduled for this coming weekend. Police were told that she was fond of taking hikes in local parks.

Police said at the time of her disappearance that family and friends were particularly concerned because she might have stopped taking her medication.

Sachs worked in mental health care and did postgraduate work at the University of Wisconsin, Stout.
