1. KARLSTAD. Fast-expanding fire led to evacuation of south side of city, including 69 nursing home and assisted-living residents. Fire retardant dropped on the city. Some structures reportedly damaged; at least six homes were damaged.

2. VIKING. Fire started in peat swamp along railroad tracks and was believed controlled last weekend. It was blown by winds Tuesday into a 5-mile-long blaze. Two outbuildings were lost.

3. FOURTOWN. Fire that doubled in size since Sunday to more than 2 square miles prompted mobilization of three Minnesota National Guard helicopters. The fire is also being called the North Minnie fire.
