The Gophers volleyball team will face its first ranked team of the season when it plays No. 4 Texas on Thursday and Friday night in Austin.

The Longhorns are 5-1, with their one loss coming last weekend at Penn State. They are led by 2011 Big 12 Player of the Year Bailey Webster, a junior outside hitter.

Last season the Gophers played host to the Longhorns and beat them 3-0 in both matches.

Texas has the nation's longest current home winning streak at 33 matches. The Longhorns are 81-2 at home since the 2007 season. The Gophers are ranked 14th and off to a 5-0 start under new coach Hugh McCutcheon.

Paralympic Games update Mallory Weggemann of Eagan finished sixth in the women's swimming SM8 200-meter individual medley Wednesday at the Paralympic Games in London.

Weggemann, who won Sunday's 50-meter freestyle S8 gold medal, finished in 2:58.44, which was 21.35 second behind gold medalist Jessica Long of the United States.

Chuck Aoki of Minneapolis scored a team-high 14 goals as the U.S. men's wheelchair rugby team opened with a 56-44 victory over Great Britain.

The U.S. men's wheelchair basketball team, which includes Ian Lynch of Brooklyn Park, beat Germany 57-46 in the quarterfinals. The Americans play Australia in Thursday's semifinals.

Klasse wins Senior Women's State Am Leigh Klasse of Keller Golf Course shot a second-day 71 to run away with the 37th Senior Women's State Amateur Championship, played at Golden Eagle Golf Club in Fifty Lakes. Klasse had a 36-hole total of 148, nine strokes better than Claudia Pilot of Austin Country Club.
