A 37-year old man from East Grand Forks has been identified as the person killed Thursday night while crossing a Minneapolis highway in his wheelchair.
Manuel Steeber was struck by a motorist who was driving eastbound on Olson Memorial Highway near James Av. N., about 9:40 p.m., according to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's office. Steeber died from blunt force injuries and his death has been ruled an accident. Minneapolis police are continuing to investigate.
Steeber's last known address was Douglas Place Inc., a chemical dependency treatment center and halfway house in East Grand Forks.
