One day after his major-league pitching debut, Jamey Carroll moves over to third base to allow Andrew Albers to make his. And it's an unusual lineup behind the Canadian lefthander. Joe Mauer will play first base for the first time since July 7, Carroll and Doug Bernier will form the left side of the infield, and Chris Colabello will be in right field.

Trevor Plouffe is OK after falling into a cement dugout-like seating area last night; he said he didn't hit his head, and the impact of hitting the padded railing left no bruise. But "his head is getting in the way a little bit," manager Ron Gardenhire said of the third baseman, meaning he's noticed frustration over his recent slump at the plate creeping in to other parts of his game. Plouffe -- who is 6-for-54 (.111) since the All-Star break -- was picked off first base in the fourth inning, and Gardenhire perceived that as a symptom of his mental state, that he wasn't paying close enough attention.

Pedro Florimon, meanwhile, will take batting practice from both sides of the plate today, Gardenhire said -- he's already been hitting in a batting cage -- and assuming there is no lingering pain in his left wrist, he should be back in the lineup on Wednesday.

One other development about the roster: After watching the Twins being limited to four hits on Monday, the front office has decided that if Josh Willingham's rehab games go well this week, and he arrives in Chicago by midday on Friday, he will likely be activated between games of the doubleheader. The Twins definitely could use another power bat in the lineup.
