Baseball is all about codes and unwritten rules. Sometimes they are helpful. And sometimes, well, a crusty veteran manager will just tell it like it is -- as Davey Johnson did with the idea that Washington should keep playing its starters after clinching its division if the games will affect the pennant race. Davey, what do you think about that? "I really don't give a rat's [redacted] what somebody thinks about my club and who I put on the field to either help somebody else or I'm not supposed to rest my regulars after we clinch it, I'm resting my regulars. End of conversation."

Note: New unwritten rule -- don't ask Davey Johnson about this.
