Rookie Joe Webb clearly has impressed the Vikings with his efforts this offseason.

The quarterback got second-team reps for both of today's indoor practices at Winter Park, leaving veteran Sage Rosenfels as a spectator for much of the time. Tarvaris Jackson got the first-team reps in both practices. By my count, Webb completed six of nine passes during team periods in the second practice.

Rosenfels, by the way, declined to comment afterward.

Rosenfels got all of two snaps in 11-on-11 work in the afternoon. That was the same as R.J. Archer, who is essentially the Vikings' fifth-string quarterback.

Meanwhile, cornerback Antoine Winfield expressed confidence that not only is his broken right foot healed but he is confident will be able to play the left corner for another year or two before making the move inside to the nickel.

Winfield does not sound convinced that he will ever end up playing safety, something that many fans have discussed. "I haven't played safety since high school so that would be a big change for me," Winfield said. "We'll see."

Finally, here are some highlights from Saturday's second practice.

-- One of the highlights of the day came during the first play of an 11-on-11 drill that featured third-and-long work. Jackson threw a pass to Percy Harvin along the near right sideline but the wide receiver tipped the ball. Cornerback Benny Sapp then had it deflect off of him and it went off of Harvin again. At that point, safety Tyrell Johnson came in, got the interception and took off along the sideline for what would have been a touchdown. On the next play, linebacker Erin Henderson almost picked off a Jackson pass that was intended for Greg Lewis.

-- Nose tackle Pat Williams isn't doing team work but he was wearing a brace on his surgically repaired right elbow.

-- Wide receivers Jaymar Johnson, Ray Small and Harvin worked on kickoff returns.

-- Second-round running back Toby Gerhart worked with the second team much of Saturday. Albert Young got many first-team reps.

-- Cornerback Marcus Sherels, the former Gopher who was signed by the Vikings as an undrafted free agent, was impressive. He picked off a Joe Webb pass in the morning and in one-on-one drills in the afternoon Sherels broke up a pass that Webb threw to another former Gopher, Logan Payne.

-- Cornerback Benny Sapp intercepted a pass from Archer in 7-on-7 that was intended for Small on the right side of the field. Sapp then went down the sideline for the pretend touchdown. Sapp had an up-and-down practice, giving up a would-be touchdown on a deep pass from Jackson to Jaymar Johnson in one-on-ones.

-- Safety Madieu Williams dropped a short pass from Jackson in 7-on-7. Williams, by the way, was replaced at times by Jamarca Sanford on the first-team defense. Sanford subbed in for Tyrell Johnson at certain points in the first practice.

-- The Vikings will hold their final practice of minicamp on Sunday morning at Winter Park. Veterans will then be free to leave and won't return until training camp. Rookies will be around for a portion of next week before they are dismissed.
