The funeral for the five siblings who died in a north Minneapolis duplex fire on Valentine's Day will take place Saturday morning.

The Rev. Jerry McAfee, who has been acting as a spokesman for the father, Troy Lewis, said the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. at Shiloh Temple Church, at 1201 W. Broadway.

Lewis also will hold a news conference at 4 p.m. Wednesday at New Salem Baptist Church, which is at 26th and Bryant Av. N.

Five of Lewis' children were killed: Gwendolyn, 18 months, Troy, 3, Fannie, 4, Mary, 6, and Christopher, 8.

The condition of one of the surviving girls was upgraded Tuesday: Shaca, 9, from critical to serious. Electra, 5, remains in satisfactory condition. Troy Lewis was released over the weekend.

A Fire Department incident report said a space heater had been running for days between the living room and dining room in the duplex, the same area where the fire appears to have started.

The blaze was so heavy that it burned a 6-foot circle through the third floor, where several children were sleeping, and destroyed most of the stairs leading there.

Fire officials said last week that the cause of the fire is officially "undetermined," but that nothing indicates it was intentional.
