Gophers coach Jerry Kill, who was hospitalized at the Mayo Clinic Sunday after suffering a seizure that morning, was back at practice Wednesday afternoon. Kill was on the field for the afternoon practice, and called the team together for an on-field meeting.

The Gophers open Big Ten play Saturday at Michigan, and Minnesota defensive coordinator Tracy Claeys said Tuesday that he expected Kill to return for the game, even though the coach was still at Mayo.
Kill, who has been afflicted with a seizure disorder for nearly two decades, was stricken with a major seizure on the sidelines of TCF Bank Stadium on Sept. 10 during the Gophers' loss to New Mexico State. He remained hospitalized for five days before returning to work.

But though his symptoms became less traumatic after that incident, the seizures did not cease. Kill disclosed last week that he had suffered multiple seizures in the hospital following the the New Mexico State game and that they continued even after his release. He had experienced few seizures over the previous five years, but his new doctors, he said, had not yet found a combination of medication that would similarly control his condition.

Not that he would allow it to keep him from coaching his team.

"I ain't changing," Kill said after his return from his first seizure. "What the hell am I supposed to do? Stop? I mean, sit in the chair and wait for the next God-dang seizure to come along?''

Kill's seizure Sunday came the day after a 37-24 loss at home to North Dakota State that dropped the Gophers to 1-3.
