Authorities identified a Forest Lake couple that was found near a capsized canoe in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Thomas Pineault, 55, and Cynthia Pineault, 51, both were wearing life jackets when they were found by two people canoeing on Alton Lake on Sunday afternoon, according to a Duluth News Tribune report.

Police said it is likely the bodies had been in the water for 24 hours or more. Officials said winds in the area and a drop in temperature could have played a part. Foul play is not suspected, the sheriff's office said. __________________________________ A Northern Minnesota school district is making headlines for censoring a high school yearbook. Students at Menahga High School had wanted to include a memorial page for a student who committed suicide in January, but the district said no, the student's mother said. And senior Stephanie Myer, who gave birth the middle of the school year, took her senior photos with her daughter. But she's been told the picture won't appear in the yearbook. Mary Clum, the Superintendent of Menahga Public Schools, says it isn't smart to glamorize suicide or teen pregnancy. "This is a new precedent for us ... so obviously we need to look at our policies because we have never had to address this before," Clum told KSTP. Peggy Havnes, whose son Kyle killed himself in January, isn't pleased. "I don't think the district should choose 100 percent what the kids want to have in their yearbook," she told the station. "I think the kids should have a lot of say on what's going to be in there." __________________________________ A former Austin Public School board candidate and volunteer firefighter is charged with stealing nearly $23,000 from the Moose Lodge, where he was supposed to be a volunteer administrator. After a lodge check bounced in August, police began looking into Ashley "Bud" Johnson, who allegedly wrote himself a payroll check every two weeks for between several hundred dollars to more than $1,000. The 35-year-old Austin man faces one count of felony check forgery. According to the complaint, Johnson wrote 28 checks to himself and another to his wife, the Austin Daily Herald reports. __________________________________ News tip?
