Leading up to Pro Day were stories about where Wentz could end up. Cleveland has the No. 2 overall choice and has been mentioned most often. The new Browns coach, Hue Jackson, was among those watching the workout at the Fargodome.
But there's always the chance of another team trading up to get Wentz ... or Cleveland picking someone else, such as Cal's Jared Goff, who is viewed as the draft's other premier quarterback.
The Denver Post speculated that Wentz would be a good fit to replace Peyton Manning, with its writer saying he was "born to run (coach Gary) Kubiak's offense."
The Dallas Morning News had a story saying that Wentz could go to Dallas, learn behind veteran Tony Roma and "be Dallas' Aaron Rodgers."
The CBS affiliate in Philadelphia said the Eagles are a candidate to trade up for Wentz.
And the Cleveland speculation took a turn on Thursday when the Browns signed Robert Griffin III
The Associated Press reported: "Cleveland has started 24 quarterbacks since 1999 and the team is expected to take one with the No. 2 overall pick in this year's draft. That rookie — possibly California's Jared Goff or North Dakota State's Carson Wentz — will compete with Griffin, the second selection in 2012. Jackson and other members of the Browns attended Wentz's pro day Thursday in North Dakota."
