gophers gameday

11 A.M. at Purdue • BTN, 1500-AM

Gophers at a glance: Minnesota has experienced a lot of highs and lows this season, but with one game left in the regular season and the dial currently pointing toward "low," the Gophers are again in search of a spark. While Minnesota seems to have gotten the turnover conundrum that has plagued it all season under control — the Gophers have had 10 or fewer miscues in each of the past three games — there are other significant impediments to success. In the past two games, the Gophers have made just 54 percent of their free throws, while shooting 21.5 percent from three-point range over the past four.

Purdue at a glance: The Boilermakers have showed some promise in recent weeks, but their situation would be even better had they pulled out the upset over Michigan on Tuesday. One game after beating No. 22 Wisconsin, Purdue led No. 7 Michigan by 12 points with 12:04 left — only to fall apart defensively and lose 80-75. You can bet the Boilermakers will head into Saturday's final game of the regular season — and their senior day — hungry to finish the season on a high note, and beat out Minnesota for positioning in the Big Ten standings. The Boilermakers have plenty of areas to tweak — they can be inconsistent shooters as well — but the potential and the toughness are evident. Leading scorer Tyrone Johnson scored in double digits in six of Purdue's past seven games, including 32 points against Michigan.
