The Twins are 23-14 against the White Sox since 2010, 14-5 at U.S. Cellular Field. The face a tough task task tonight in lefty Chris Sale, who throws 96-97 miles an hour. He had some elbow problems earlier in the season that he claims he's licked.

SWARZAK UPDATE

Righthander Anthony Swarzak threw only 37 pitches on Sunday in his most recent relief outing, but Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said he's not worried about Swarzak not being stretched out before his scheduled start on Friday against Detroit.

"We haven't extended him out that much but he has thrown a lot of baseball," Gardenhire said. I haven't put a pitch count on him but we'll just go inning by inning. If we can get five linings out of him, then we can go inning by inning with him."

Gardenhire said lefthander Francisco Liriano would likely enter the game if Swarzak struggles early.

DOUMIT UPDATE

Ryan Doumit had to test his right calf in the second inning Tuesday when he legged out a double. He came through fine, but Gardenhire lifted him for a pinch runner in the seventh inning as a precaution. Gardenhire, however, is not quite ready to use Doumit behind the plate.

"I'd like to stay away from catching him right now in game situations for at least a day or two more," Gardenhire said.

A-ROD AND O-DOG

Orlando Hudson really offered Chicago reporters a quote for the ages when asked about the transition to third base after playing second throughout his career.

He pointed out that Alex Rodriguez, Cal Ripken Jr., Nomar Garciaparra and Omar Vizquel are among middle infielders who have moved to third base later in their careers.

"I guess I'm probably going to join that gang, too," Hudson said.

WOOF!

There are dogs all over U.S Cellular Field. Fans are allowed to bring their dogs to the park tonight. Think It Ain't Gal would be in heaven. Just watched one leave its mark in the outfield, however.

Readers have clamored for the Twins to sign veteran Roy Oswalt, who apparently is close to sigining with the Rangers. The Twins did show interest during the offseason, but were told Osawalt want to pitch for a team with a chance to win. I don't know if Oswalt ever changed his priorities, but I know that was deal during the offseason.
