Sheriff's personnel have recovered a body from the Crow River in Wright County, and authorities are trying to determine whether it is a 26-year-old man who has been missing for more than two weeks.

The body of a white man in his mid- to late-20s was located shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday in the river, 2 to 3 miles from Rockford, according to the Sheriff's Office.

An autopsy was underway in attempt to make a positive identification, but the Sheriff's Office stopped short of saying that it is Samuel Gustafson, 26, of Rockford, who was last seen leaving a friend's home about 5 a.m. on April 21. He suffers from schizophrenia and was without his medication at the time, according to his family.

The coroner "has the body and will make positive identification today," Sheriff Joe Hagerty said Wednesday morning. "We have nobody else missing."
