The Dakota County Chiefs of Police Association honored five officers and two civilians Friday for "above and beyond accomplishments."

Eight officers received the award of honor: Chris Wegner and Joseph Boche of Inver Grove Heights, Tomas Braucks of West St. Paul and Bobby Lambert of Mendota Heights for responding to a suicidal man in Inver Grove Heights on Jan. 30, 2012; Joe Robertson and Eric Bohrer of Inver Grove Heights for "maintaining their cool" when they were shot at on March 8, 2012; Tanner Spicer of Mendota Heights for dealing with a suicidal man during a standoff on the Interstate 35E bridge on Oct. 16, and Edward Abrahamson of South St. Paul for entering a burning building to save a woman on Dec. 30.

Brad Litke of Burnsville received the exceptional officer award for investigating a 62-year-old man's disappearance on Nov. 27. The Rev. Jim Bzoskie, chaplain at the county jail, and Chuck Parrish, a Rosemount police reserve officer, received citizens' awards of excellence.
