FORT MYERS, FLA. -- Deolis Guerra walked in to the Twins clubhouse Friday pulling a suitcase while a clubhouse attendant carried a brand-new World Baseball Classic equipment bag. So at least the Twins' righthander got a nice souvenir from his four days on Venezuela's roster.

He got a bad souvenir, too, and the Twins' medical staff is trying to determine exactly how bad it is. Guerra was sent home without taking part in a game, and the initial reports were that he had strained a pectoral muscle. But general manager Terry Ryan said he's been told Guerra was experiencing tightness closer to his shoulder "so I don't know about that pectoral stuff."

Meanwhile, other players are getting healthy again. "I can use my bats!" Oswaldo Arcia said with a smile after he took an early session of batting practice and experienced no discomfort from the intercostal muscle strain in his left side. Arcia, who later Friday took another session of batting practice during the day's regular workout, is likely to make his spring debut Saturday in Bradenton, or Sunday at the latest.

Darin Mastroianni is ready to play again after a hamstring strain, and should be in the lineup Saturday. "I've heard him say [that] if this was the regular season, he probably would have played much earlier than this," Ryan said. "I suspect he's probably right. Down here, we're not going to do anything foolish."

That's the thinking with Chris Parmelee's strained groin, too, an injury that the outfielder said was much improved Friday. He planned to take part in the Twins' workout today, and return to action this weekend.

Meanwhile, Aaron Hicks and his teammates take part in their first night game of the spring tonight. It's televised, starting at 6 p.m. Central, on FSN Plus. The lineups:

Twins -- Hicks CF, Dozier 2B, Willingham DH, Doumit C, Plouffe 3B, Boggs LF, Benson RF, Clement 1B, Florimon SS. Pelfrey P, followed by Duensing, Robertson, Roenicke, Tonkin or Virgil Vazquez.

Red Sox -- Ellsbury CF, Pedroia 2B, Sweeney RF, Gomes LF, Nava 1B, Middlebrooks 3B, Lavarnway C, Overbay DH, Iglesias SS. Dempster P.
