(2012 salary in parentheses)Scott Baker ($6.5 million): Experienced elbow problems in spring training and needed Tommy John surgery, costing him the season.

Francisco Liriano ($5.5 million): Went 3-10 with a 5.31 ERA through late July, when the impending free agent was traded to White Sox. He is 1-0 with a 4.79 ERA for Chicago.

Carl Pavano ($8.5 million): Went 2-5 with a 6.00 ERA before going on the disabled list June 1; he has yet to return from his shoulder injury.

Nick Blackburn ($4.75 million): Went 4-9 with a 7.39 ERA before he was taken off 40-man roster and sent to Class AAA Rochester on Monday.

Jason Marquis ($3 million): Was 2-4 with an 8.47 ERA before being released in May; picked up by the Padres, where he is 6-7 with a 4.08 ERA.
