Taylor Matson scored his first goal in seven games for the Gophers and it was a big one. It came early in the third period and broke a 1-1 tie with Wisconsin on Saturday at the Kohl Center.
Nick Bjugstad and Nate Condon added two unassisted goals later in the third period. Defenseman Seth Helgeson scored the first Gophers goal. Tyler Barnes, a former Burnsville High School player from Eagan, had the lone Wisconsin goal.
The No. 1 rated Gophers (10-2-0, 7-1-0) outshot the Badgers 33-14. Wisconsin won the first game of the series 3-1.
