Twins pitcher Nick Blackburn left Sunday's start against the Yankees in the second inning with a lateral forearm strain and will be re-evaluated Monday.
Blackburn, who had artroscopic surgery on his right elbow last October, walked four batters in 1 1/3 innings. He motioned for catcher Drew Butera to come to the mound after walking the bases loaded with one out in the second.
Pitching coach Rick Anderson and trainer Dave Pruemer went to check on Blackburn, and Manager Ron Gardenhire could be seen in the dugout rubbing his hand over his face, probably wondering, "What next?" for his injury-riddled squad.
